Our Solar Installation Process

What We Do

Project Design

We create a solar design per your specifications and energy requirements

Permitting

Your approved design will be sent to the city permitting department, once approved, typically 3-5 days, we will schedule your installation.

Installation

Typical installation timeframe is from 30-45 days from the date of the signed agreement.

Final Inspection and power on your system

Final city inspection and SDG&E signoff typically 2-10 days and then we can turn on your solar system and your savings

Solar Building, Construction and Inspection

Installation timeframe for your solar installation is typically 30-40 days from date of contract and another 7 days for inspection and permission to operate

1: SITE SURVEY: 1-4 DAYS

Our site survey team verifies site conditions, takes photos and detailed measurements, does power panel load calculations and conducts shade studies to make sure we meet all necessary requirements to meet your power goals.

2: PROJECT & FINANCE ACCEPTANCE: 2-5 DAYS

After the project has been verified by our team, the finance company reviews the file and grants us “Notice to Proceed”  (NTP).  If paying cash, we are already on it and will proceed to the next step.

3: Design and Engineering : 2-3 Days

Your project goes to our design team who may make some small adjustments to achieve maximum production and savings for you. As soon as your project design is completed, you’ll receive a copy of the proposed plan set for you to review and approve.

4: CITY AND UTILITY APPROVALS: 3 DAYS

Final plans are submitted to your local municipality’s building and construction safety departments.  Many cities review and approve plans in a few days, but some cities can take weeks.  Similary, utility submittal and approval processes and timelines vary.

5: DELIVERY AND INSTALLATION: 1-3 DAYS

Once approvals are received. your project manager will call to schedule the delivery and set-up of your solar system. The on-site work will typically take about one to two days depending on the system size and other conditions. Our installation teams are trained, licensed, bonded and insured, technically skilled, and highly experienced.  We protect the integrity of your home with safety in mind, and do a complete walk-around inspection and checklist for leftover debris and parts prior to leaving your installation site.

6: FINAL INSPECTIONS: 1-2 WEEKS

The local municipality needs to approve our handiwork. Your project manager will call and arrange a time to have an inspector from the local municipality come out to review your solar project. This may take more than one inspection, in the event that adjustments are required.

Important Note about Main Service Panel Upgrades: Please be aware that if your project requires the replacement or relocation of your power panel, this could add substantial time due to scheduling from your local utility provider. Please consult with your Project Coordinator for more detailed information.

7: UTILITY CONNECTION & ACTIVATION: 1-3 WEEKS

The approval from the final inspection is submitted to the utility company for interconnection and Permission to Operate (PTO).  Depending on your utility provider, it may take anywhere from a few days to a few weeks.  Your Project Coordinator will call you to schedule the activation, go over system monitoring, and answer any final questions you may have.
